24th edition to take place on November 11 and 12 on Cabarete beach

After a two-year break due to the health crisis that hit the world, the event returns with more force to offer “the music of musicians, jazz”, to the hundreds of people from all over the country and tourists from all over the world.

It will feature the participation of national and international artists, such as the Equatoguinean-Spanish singer, Buika, who stands out in different musical genres such as flamenco, jazz, tango and boleros, as well as Grupo Bonyé, with a repertoire that includes son, guaracha, montuno, traditional son, salsa, salve and merengue.

In addition to the presentations of important musicians and singers, the DR Jazz Festival 2022, offers an interesting agenda that includes different free musical educational workshops, jam sessions for those who want to improvise, as well as activities for the whole family.

Thanks to these concerts, more than 80 children with limited resources will benefit from classes in different musical instruments such as piano, drums, saxophone, guitar, bass, violin, cello, among other instruments, using Jazz as a teaching platform.

Hope to see you on the beach and enjoy magic music together! You can check the official program of the event on this website

Fire safety training

Last week our security team had a fire safety training at the hotel. The purpose of it was to provide the staff with the vital skills and knowledge required in the event of a fire to keep the personnel and guests safe. Our employees also had the chance to experience how to use a fire extinguisher for real.

We firmly believe that having the employees trained to properly use a fire extinguisher is important. Confidence to react quickly during an emergency helps to avoid chaos and bigger damage. And since the safety of our guests is one of our top priorities, we always invest necessary time and effort in guaranteeing it

19th Caribbean Midwinter Regatta in Cabarete

From January 21 to 23, 2022, the Carib Wind Cabarete Regatta was held on Cabarete beach, the only recognized annual Olympic class regatta in the Caribbean.

The event marks the start of the ILCA global sailing regatta calendar, attracting the world’s best sailors (sailing athletes). It is sponsored by Carib Wind Cabarete, Seapro Watersports and Drifter, under the direction of Andrés Santana and the technical team of the Dominican Sailing Federation.

Over 20 participants competed in the ILCA one person class, with representation from the Netherlands, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, England and of course the Dominican Republic.

The technical coordinator of the event Ari Barshi explained that this type of event attracts water sports tourists who come for the wind and waves that are so unique in our country, especially in Cabarete which is known as the international mecca for kitesurfing and the windsurf.

World Sailing, the international governing body for sailing, includes the results of this regatta in its world ranking, which makes it a very prestigious event on the world sailing calendar.

Inauguration of the New Kitchen and Bar at Sunset Grill

Our Sunset Grill restaurant reopens its doors to the public, after over 2 months of the kitchen and bar remodeling. Offering one of the most privileged views of Cabarete beach, the restaurant arrives with a fresh and totally transformed concept.

The space reinvents itself and adapts to the modern times while maintaining the same essence of one of the iconic restaurants in the Cabarete tourist district. Vintage elements, cheesy sofas and soft tones have resulted in a very comfortable bright and open space, perfect for the Caribbean climate.

The Sunset Grill restaurant is led by the chef Víctor Artiles, together with the Captain of the Bar, Carlos Cuevas. They present a high quality gastronomic proposal, with a clear prominence of international cuisine but with an island touch, always highlighting its specialty in paellas and seafood.

The remodeling was based on the inclusion of the following elements: an industrial kitchen, divided into a cold kitchen section and a hot kitchen section. The latter has under its design a glass window so customers can observe how their order is being prepared in the kitchen. In addition, a room for cuts of meat, an area for seafood as well as bar improvements were parts of the project.

Cabarete Carnival Celebration 2022

Cabarete Beach will be the stage where various carnival characters will parade through the water and on the sand this coming March 19 as part of the seventh edition of the Cabarete carnival.

This carnival is the only one in the Dominican Republic that takes place on the beach, which gives an exquisite touch to this great tradition attracting tourists from all over the world, as well as visitors from different parts of the country.

This year it receives the active support of the Cabarete District Board, headed by its mayor Freddy Cruz, who commented: “The Cabarete Carnival is one of the cultural events that keeps the Dominican tradition alive, allowing our community to enjoy a great show and our tourists to have a pleasant experience full of art and culture”.

The event is organized by the Cabarete Carnival Association, chaired by Erick M. Vargas and the creative agency Dosele, directed by Kelvyn Santos and Hasudi Montolío.

The carnival will feature artistic performances by music students of Fedujazz and the Dream Project Bachata Academy, both non-profit entities that constantly work with the children of the Cabarete community. Among other surprise artistic presentations.

We invite everyone to join the Cabarete community in this colorful and joyful celebration. And we suggest taking some sunset drinks or enjoying a dinner afterwards at our restaurant Sunset Grill.

World Surf League Qualifying Series in Cabarete

This last weekend Cabarete once again reaffirmed its title of Surf and Wind Capital of the World when hosting the first Qualifying Series event of the World Surf League on the island. It was an outstanding opportunity to show the world Cabarete’s great swell conditions along with the beauty and splendor of our nature.

Over 96 athletes arrived from various countries to compete in Playa Encuentro from March 3 to 6, 2022. 15 local athletes represented the Dominican Republic in this competition too. Despite the tropical rain conditions during the last days of the event, a lot of spectators came to support the happening and enjoy the local vendor market and festive scene.

The joy of the crowd was even bigger when the local wildcard, proven QS veteran, Manuel Selman won the event title on home soil with a fairytale victory. This marks Selman’s first-ever victory, as well as Final appearance.

This type of events is especially beneficial for our town’s development for various reasons. First of all, it puts the name of Cabarete on the world’s surfing map and thus attracts more tourists to the area. Secondly, it gives local surfers a chance to compete with elite athletes from other countries and thus motivates them to train more and get to the next surfing level. And last but not the least, it gives the local youth hope and an alternative area in which they can develop and achieve success.

Special thanks to Carambola Surf House that powered and organized this event from the very beginning.

Thank you for your support!

The last 2021 year was very challenging but at the same time productive for us. We completely renovated our restaurant’s kitchen, changed the stairs in all the buildings and recovered from the pandemic shutdown.

Despite all the challenges, we kept offering a great service to all our customers and guests. And the best proof of that is the two certificates of excellence that we received from Restaurant Guru and Sluurpy.

So we’d like to thank all our customers, guests and apartment owners for the continued support and understanding during all this exciting journey. And we hope you will continue with us in this new adventure 2022.
